For those of us eager to see Duke’s historic recruiting class on the floor together, well, we will have to wait.
According to Coach K, Tre Jones and Cam Reddish will not be taking the court during the Blue Devils trip north of the border.
Jones, the #3 incoming freshman on the ACCBR top 15 list, is recovering from a hip injury and Reddish, #6 on the list, is dealing with a minor groin injury.
Both seem to be simply precautionary moves as the trip and the games are more team building exercises than actual serious games. Never-the-less, it would have been awesome to see the lineup of Jones, Barrett, Reddish, Zion and Marques Bolden on the floor together.
Reddish is a player that is really intriguing to me and one of the top guys I can’t wait to see this upcoming season. He has the potential to be, in my opinion, the best player in college basketball for the 2018-19 season.
Jones, the brother of Duke NCAA Champion Tyus, is a point guard that fits the mold of traditional Blue Devil point guards. Tough, gritty, pain in the ass knock down shooters.
All is not lost on the trip to the great white north however. We still get to see Zion Williamson play with RJ Barrett which is sure to be high level entertainment for us college basketball junkies in the dog days of the offseason.
