Josh Hall declares for the NBA Draft

Well Wolfpack fans, it seems to be happening again. According to Joe Giglio, North Carolina State recruit Josh Hall has declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. Hall is eligible to be drafted due since he is currently doing a year of prep at local Moravian Prep in Durham.

Hall, a top 40 recruit in the nation, is a 6’9 wing that can really fill it up from behind the arc. He signed with the Wolfpack in November of 2019 and was the cornerstone piece of a five freshman class coming to Raleigh. Whether or not Hall goes all the way to the draft is still unclear since the current evaluation process doesn’t really exist due to the coronavirus outbreak. It would appear that Hall’s most likely course would be to end up in Raleigh, which Coach Kevin Keatts also forecasts in Giglio’s article.

Hall was/is the likely successor to CJ Bryce at the wing forward spot and possesses a similar skill-set with the exception of physical strength. Hall has the size and shooting touch to be an NBA player but a season in Raleigh could benefit him a great deal as far as toughness and building his body. Of course, the NBA and its structure are a little different now then it was even just a couple of years ago, being drafted in the first round is not the only consideration that potential professionals take into account as there are now multiple routes to make it to the league.

This is the second season in a row that the Wolfpack have been bitten by a prep player’s professional aspirations. Last season, highy regarded point guard Jalen Lecque opted for the NBA Draft over a season in Raleigh. Lecque went undrafted and appeared in only 4 games during the 2019-20 season but did sign a four-year contract (2 years guaranteed) with the Phoenix Suns.
