ACCBR Picks: 11/8/18

By Mychal Hunter

Only two games on the slate tonight with six coming on Friday. I wanted to give a few quick thoughts on tonight’s games while I had a minute and even make some picks against the spread. I started the season off pretty well, going 6-3 on opening night. I much would’ve preferred 7-2, but UNC won by 11 and barely covered the 10.5. I felt pretty good about the Wofford pick until the last 5 minutes.

Chicago St at Notre Dame (-29.5)

Chicago St. is not good. For the full preview of this game go here. Chicago State just got pasted by Indiana on opening night, 104-55. They didn’t shoot free throws well. They didn’t shoot triples well. They were -19 in the rebounding department. Indiana’s front court is not as good as Notre Dame’s in my opinion and the Irish should dominate the boards. Mike Brey’s club also shot horrible from deep on opening night, I expect there to be a regression to the mean in this game and they come out focused. Notre Dame also shot an outstanding 36-38 from the line against UIC. As for Robby Carmody’s injury:

I will lay the points.

Nicholls State at Louisville (-19)

This game is a little bit interesting. Louisville is down, but they have yet to play so we don’t really know what to expect. They didn’t impress me very much in their exhibition game, that much is for sure. Nicholls St is led by a couple of transfers who both scored 20 or more on opening night. They did play Mississippi College though, so take that for what it is worth.  Nicholls St is a haven for JUCO’s this year, which is rarely ideal. Regardless of how down Louisville might be this season, I don’t think they beat the Colonels by less than 20. I’ll lay the points in this one as well. Chris Mack will have the Cardinals ready to play.

Things that interest me tonight

  • Is V.J. King ready to be the man?
  • Will Notre Dame continue to go 10 deep?
  • DJ Harvey’s minutes played with 2 games in 3 days.
