ACC’s Top Returning Players: #8 Oshae Brissett

By Mychal Hunter

I didn’t forget about you Syracuse fans. However, at the conclusion of this list you might be angry with me anyways. In the meantime, coming in at #8 is Orange sophomore forward Oshae Brissett.

There are four types of players in college basketball.

  1. The top high school players in the country (guys you have never heard of).
  2. Good college basketball players (BJ Elder, Preston Shumpert, Chris Carrawell)
  3. Great college basketball players (Julius Hodge, Trajan Langdon, Ed Cota)
  4. NBA players that are playing college basketball.

Oshae Brissett is in that fourth line.

At 6’8 with handle, Brissett is the the prototypical NBA prospect. The only thing that he is really lacking at this point in his development is the consistent three point shot. If this were an “ACC NBA Prospect” list (hmmmm stay tuned) he would easily be in the top 3.

As a true freshman Brissett averaged 14.9 points and 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He was the one of only two freshman in the entire country to average those numbers. The other being Eric Williams Jr. of Duquesne.

Brissett is now part of a LOADED Syracuse squad that will be one of the top teams in the conference. The addition of point guard Jalen Carey will no doubt benefit him as now the Orange have a true point guard to distribute the ball.

Look for Oshae on one of the three ACC teams at the end of the season followed by a jump to the league. If he is able to improve on his three point shooting (33% last year) he will be a lottery pick.
