ACC Recruiting Roundup 9/17

Big list. A ton of stuff happening this week. Big time commitments and of course, Landers Nolley continues to keep us guessing as he backs out on another school. This time however,  I have heard a reason why.

Here we Tony Bennett was in to see 2019 Khalif Battle

  • GT landed an in-home visit with Talen Horton Tucker, the talented wing from Illinois. OV was discussed but not scheduled
  • Josiah James from the 2019 class was also on campus with Zion Williamson, Jalen Lecque and Devin Dotson last weekend.
  • Both Wake Forest and Georgia Tech have reached out to NCST decommit Jamie Lewis. Wake has guys higher on their list (Devoe and Ayo) and GT ultimately is building towards a 2 PG system so I doubt he will end up in Atlanta. If Devoe lands in Atlanta or Florida instead of Wake and Ayo ends up at Illinois, USC or somewhere else, they may jump in to the Jamie Lewis pool, he is a very good player. He will play his senior year at Findlay Prep.
  • Boston College has offered Isaiah Todd, the #1 player in the 2020 class
  • GT was at Oak Hill Academy watching Will Richardson, Keyontae Johnson, Josh Nickelberry, and Josh Hemmings.
  • Pitt has offered 2019 top 150 guard Maceo Austin. Austin is a 3 star shooting guard out of Hermitage PA which is right in Pitts backyard.
  • Duke and UVA in to see Armando Bacot along with the entire VT staff this week.
  • Pitt in to see Oscar Tshiebwue. Oscar also holds offers from VT, UVA and Clemson. Duke is listed on his 247sports profile but an offer has not been confirmed.
  • Miami had an in-home visit with Eric Ayala
  • 2019 5 star forward Matthew Hurt  has scheduled an UV to Louisville between 9/28-10/1. He will also visit Kentucky, Indiana and UNC at some point. Whether or not  those are going to be OV’s I am not sure (assume them to be UVs). Mike Brey and Roy Williams were both in to see the the 6’8 forward this week.
  • VT was in to see David Duke on 9/10
  • Danny Manning, Roy Williams, and Mike Brey were all in to see Nate Laszewski this week.
  • Zion Williamson told USA Today that he will take his official visit to Duke on 10/22. It has also been reported that he will be at Duke for Countdown to Craziness on 10/28 along with Matthew Hurt and Darius Garland.
  • Louisville was in to visit 2018 top target Moses Brown this week
  • Nate Roberts will announce his college decision on 10/17. He still has visits to complete with Syracuse (9/22) and Wake (9/29). He was on an official to Nebraska this weekend. Syracuse was in to see him before he went on his visit this weekend, performing an in home visit on 9/13.
  • VT Coach Buzz Williams was in to see Addison Wallace on 9/14.
  • 2020 4 star SG is said to have been offered by Florida State.
  • Syracuse and Miami both had in home visits with point guard Jalen Carey. Miami was in on 9/13 and Syracuse on 9/14. Carey is said to now be concentrating on a final three of Cuse, Miami and UConn according to Adam Zagoria.
  • GT was in to see 2018 wing Brendan Adams this week. Adams has also scheduled an OV to Atlanta for 10/13
  • Louisville was in to see commit Courtney Ramey along with this weekends visitors Balsa Koprivica and Darius Days this week. Both Balsa and Days took their OV’s to Louisville this weekend.
  • Wake Forest offers 2020  4 star point guard Adam Miller.
  • Clemson was in to see 5 star PG Jalen Lecque this week. It appears Brownell is making him the #1 guard priority for the class.
  • GT has offered 2020 4 star wing forward DJ Stewart.
  • Clemson was in to see Deuce Dean on 9/12
  • Florida State was in to see 2019 Zimife Nwokeji on 9/14. The 6’7 wing forward is a top 50 recruit from Tallahassee. The smart money would be on Carlton Young wrapping that one up fairly quickly.
  • Jules Bernard will take an OV to Miami on 9/21
  • RJ Barrett was on his OV to Duke this weekend.
  • Immanuel Quickley visited Kentucky this weekend. He has yet to reschedule his OV to Miami that was cancelled due to Irma. The Miami staff did fly to Maryland and visit the prized PG recruit earlier this week though.
  • Ayo Dosunmu had an in home visit with Wake Forest this week. The #1 PG target for the Deacs will OV Winston-Salem on 9/29
  • Lugentz Dort has cut his list to 6. Miami was named but an OV has yet to be scheduled. Dort is a big bodied off guard that is a top 30 player in the 2018 class.
  • Isaiah Mucius, Nate Laszewski and Mike Devoe all on the Wake Forest campus for their OV’s this weekend.
  • Jermaine Harris will take an OV to Miami on 10/20
  • Saddiq Bey will OV Miami on 9/29
  • Buzz Williams was in to see Jordan Phillips this week
  • GT was in to see Kyle Sturdivant and Brandon Boston on 9/14. Boston, a 2020 wing recently received an offer from the Yellow Jackets.
  • Romeo Langford had an in home visit with Louisville on 9/14. Was said to be on campus for the Clemson game yesterday as well
  • Anthony Nelson has named a final 5 of Clemson, SHU, Minnesota, Dayton and West Virginia. Nelson is a point guard out of NYC. He is a ranked as a 4 star player according to ESPN if that means anything to anyone.
  • Xavier Johnson has predictably cut his list to 3. GT, Nebraska and Georgetown remain. USF took a point guard commit this week so it seemed likely Johnson would cancel his visit with them. He will OV GT on 9/22. Look for him to schedule a Georgetown visit soon.
  • GT was in to see former Hartford commit Filip Petrusev this week. The Montverde forward is starting to collect some big offers.
  • GT was had an in-home visit with PG Mike Devoe on 9/13
  • Romeo Langford will attend Late Night with Roy on 10/13 in Chapel Hill
  • Boston College will host 2019 top 150 guard Joseph Girard for an UV on 9/16
  • Pitt will host 5 star Alonzo Gaffney for an UV on 9/17
  • NCST and GT were in to see 2019 wing Greg Gantt this week
  • Syracuse was in to see rising 2019 big man Kofi Cockburn, 2019 guard Kahlil Whitney and 2020 big Cliff Omoruyi.

Tough week or Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh.

  • Dwayne Cohill has committed to Dayton. The 4 star guard had been scheduled for an OV to VT on 10/20
  • Jake Forrester also popped before making it to Blacksburg. He committed to Indiana this week.
  • Pitt also made Forrester’s final list and recently had him in for and official. Stallings also lost out on forward Zion Griffin this week when the forward committed to Iowa St.
  • James Akinjo committed to UConn and KJ Hymes committed to Nevada this week, driving Virginia fans further into depression. Syracuse was also deep into Akinjo.
  • Andrew Nembhad named his final 4 this week as well and eliminated UVA.
  • Landers Nolley has backed out of his GT official visit and replaced them with Wichita State. Its rumored that Nolley has an issue with GT being all in on Nas Little. GT would love to take both, but apparently its not something Nolley is interested in.

ACC Commits

  • Syracuse landed 3 star wing scorer Brycen Goodine. The 6’4 guard out of Mass. is #189 in the 2019 class.
  • NC State landed 4 star 6’10 shot blocker Manny Bates this week. Big time get for Coach Keatts.
  • Louisville also got their 2019 class started with top 60 player David Johnson.
